Failure Is A Stepping Stone

I posted this on Facebook this week and it seemed to strike a cord.

People love to hear stories of overcoming failure because all of us face failure on a regular basis. One of my favorite teachings about failure comes from the book Go For No by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz.

They point out that most people look at failure as the opposite direction of success.

Failure < ---- Me ----> Success

Most people think you either go in one direction toward failure or in the opposite direction toward success.

The truth is that failure is in the same direction as success, it’s just a stepping stone.

Me —-> Failure —-> Success

All of the greats have realized that success in on the other side of failure. As Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
